Inclusive Mobility
Mobility is a central prerequisite for participation in social life in various facets, from gainful employment to social, cultural and political activities. Access to mobility must therefore be considered a fundamental right.
Research Focus
Inclusive mobility aims at comprehensive access for all, regardless of age, gender, income, education, health status, physical, cognitive and linguistic abilities or place of residence. It takes diversity and accessibility equally into account and seeks tailor-made social and climate-friendly solutions for different target groups, their mobility practices, needs and competences.
This is not only about mobility in the narrower sense, i.e. the choice of and access to means of transport, but also about shaping the community itself.
This focus therefore deals with the following questions and topics, among others:
- How must ecologically and socially just mobility be designed?
- How can the basic right to mobility also be implemented for currently disadvantaged regions and (groups of) people?
- How can equal access be created for all, regardless of income, age, gender, state of health, education, etc.?
- What framework conditions are needed for a socially inclusive and ecological mobility transition, which political, which technical and which individual factors play a role in this?
